Barn Raising

We had us an old fashiond barn raising this weekend.

Ok, not so much. We went to Lowe's to pick up a small garden shed. Well the next size up was on sale and was only like 40 bucks more so we thought what the heck. Then we could store my bike in it too. It ending up being a much longer process than I thought, but it is done!

Baby Peachs!!!

Well I had my doubts. We have difficulty keeping house plants alive so I worried our new trees would not survive very long. Well the Avocado has new growth, though no sign of fruit yet. I don't know if it might be to young still. However the peach tree is producing. So without further ado...

Fence

So we are going to be replacing the fence with the tax return money. I want to replace the gate too, but that will probably have to wait for next year.

We are just waiting on the check to come to us, then its off to the hardware store! =D

Yard Work

What Peter meant to say in the previous post is that we have finally gotten to making something out of our back yard. We were given two trees from our real estate agent that Peter posted previously. Avocado and peach! here is hopping that they produce fruit soon. We also have a small evergreen to plant when we finish getting rid of a big ugly tree back there. Also we have a watermelon plant for when we start the garden.

New Years

We spent New Years celebrating just the two of us in our new house. We decided it would be a great time to finally break out the adorable snowman dishes we got the first Christmas we were married (thank you Micheal and Diane). As long as we were breaking out the nice dishes we thought why not a great meal to go with it. Now this is another menu post so if you were made hungry by the thanksgiving post you may want to skip the rest of this one.

Christmas

We didn't do much decorating for Christmas because we were not going to be around. We did buy some stockings and hung them on our mantel with are Charley Brown tree. I, of course, forgot to take any photos of this lovely mantel so you much all wait with baited breath till next year to see.

The trip home went surprisingly easy. The problem popped up when we tried to make it from Eugene to Portland. We got stuck in Eugene for an extra three days. We really missed our Portland friends and family but it was nice to spend some much time with Kennice and help with the last minute wedding preparations.

Uncle Peter got to baby sit for the first time ever and did very well. He fed her, played with her, changed his very first diaper (and it was a good one) and then she fell asleep on his chest.

The wedding went off nearly hitch less. If you are following this blog then you are most likely following little-long as well so you can go there for photos.




We got a Home Depot gift card for Christmas (thank you Adam) and got to make a cuple more changed I was thrilled about.


This is the old kitchen faucet, it was low to the sink and had no sprayer.

New faucet, slightly further away from the sink and the faucet disconnects to spray.

Thanksgiving

Due to the timing of our house purchase we were unable to make it home for thanksgiving this year. So we decided we may as well celebrate our new place by having thanksgiving dinner just the two of us for the first time.

Peter decided to go all out and make an entire thanksgiving dinner all from scratch. Well except the desserts, we had a little help with those.

We set the table with our wedding china (thank you Mom, Dad, Greens, and Marteneys) and enjoyed ourselves. Of course there were way too many leftovers, lol.

Roof

For those who don't remember the last photos we posted so very long ago, the roof of our lovely home was in poor repair. The last person who had is roofed decided to take the lazy way out and installed comp onto of the old shake shingles. Well this was not very secure and some of the comp flew off in the big winds storms we had in Jan 08. So a new roof was in order before we could move in.

Early Changes

There were a few things that needed to be changes before we could move in.

Most of the rooms in the house hd ugly light fixtures that did not put out much light, so we updated almost all of them. The closets, Laundry room, and basement all had bare incadesent bulbs.

Also needing to be fixed was the shower head. Peter, being 6'4" is used to being too tall to stand up straight under a shower head, but the one that was in this house was too short for me to stand under. Home Depot solved our problem.



Lastly we bought a refrigerator and stove. I was excited for the door ice and dispenser. Peter was thrilled with the Stove being as and having a convection oven.

Our Home

We moved in on November 22 and have since then discovered something about ourselves. We are terrible at keeping a blog! I had a bunch of photos to put up here and then accidentally deleted them off the camera before they could be saved.

So now we are going to put up some photos that we have been sitting off and will make an effort to get new ones up of rooms as we get them presentable.

We want to say thank you to all of those people who helped us get into this place and a special thank you to grandma and grandpa Collins. Without you this would not have happened.
